WASHINGTON (ABC7) —

Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued for parts of our area for the snow on the way tonight. Saturday will be rather snowy for a good portion of our area.

As of Friday evening, Southern Maryland is already seeing minor accumulation.

Most of the pavement temperatures are well above freezing. Some less traveled roads, will likely get snow covered under our heaviest snows. At this point it looks like most main roads should stay warm enough and the majority of the snow should melt on contact. Crews have also treated a number of area roads which should help a lot with temperatures only marginally freezing.

This snow would be rather early for us, compared to the last few years. The daily snowfall record for December 9th (Saturday) is 1.6", so there's a chance we could even break the daily record!

Now for the official potential numbers from StormWatch7:
