Last of the snow moves out, but coldest air of the season is coming

The last of the snow was moving out of east Alabama on Saturday morning.

The National Weather Service has dropped all winter weather warnings and advisories as of 7 a.m., but snow was still thick on the ground in some areas and roads icy.

Temperatures are expected to warm above freezing today, but will still stay on the cold side.

Places where the snow is thick, such as east Alabama, may have a hard time making it out of the 30s today, according to forecasters. Temperatures in the 40s are expected elsewhere.

And tonight will be a cold one statewide.

A reinforcing cold front is expected to move through the area, but it won't bring any precipitation with it.

What it will do is plunge temperatures into the teens and low 20s tonight in north and central Alabama and upper 20s to low 30s closer to the coast.

That could make for some icy spots again tonight on roadways, according to the weather service.
